The Beauty Of Food Cube Art

Food can be both delicious and beautiful to look at. It comes in so many different textures, colors, shapes, and flavors that some people have spent entire lives devoted to it. Dutch design duo Lernert and Sander went above and beyond standard food photography to show us exactly what happens when all-natural food takes on a very unnatural shape. Check out their food cube art pictured below.

Together the duo created 98 cubes of food, and each cube measured 2.5 centimeters on all sides. By eliminating the uniqueness of shape, we are able to focus more on the differences in color and apparent texture between raw foods.

See if you can guess what everything is!

The cube food art project was created for Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant for a documentary photography feature that focused on food. The food you see here is all unprocessed, and includes meats, fish, fruits, and vegetables.
